Exploring the Cliffs of Moher

700 feet above the sea

A trip to Ireland is simply not complete without a visit to the Cliffs of Moher. This iconic landmark is recognized around the world and each day thousands of visitors take the walk along the sea. Experience it with your own two feet, or hop on a boat, regardless how you experience it get ready for a once in a life time adventure in Ireland.

Does it Cost to visit?

When visiting the Cliffs of Moher you will have to pay a small fee to enter the park and park your car! It was only €4.50 each for us because of the student rate. You can find a full price breakdown on there website here! The adventure is worth every penny because exploring this beautiful slice of Ireland should be on top of everyones bucket list. If you come with a pre-booked tour this entry free will already be taken care of!

If you are not planning to rent a car while in Ireland but still want to visit the cliffs of Moher, then I would highly suggest taking the shuttle, or finding a tour to come and explore. You can also take the public bus here, but again, it maybe 5+ hours from Dublin! Regardless how you get here - just make sure you do :)

what hike should I do?

When you actually get to the Cliffs - bust out those walking shoes! You can walk over 18km or 11+ miles around these stunning sea sides. From exploring O’Briens Tower, to walking to Hag’s Head - there is plenty of amazing views, walks, and adventures here. O’Briens Tower is an ancient tower built in the 1800’s that os still around and ready for you to explore it!Here you can get some epic views, learn some history, and see all the way to Hag’s Head. Wether you explore the landmarks, one of the three platforms, the visitors center, or simply walk and roam around - you will be BLWON away by the beauty and surreal moment of being here.

Regardless where or how you explore make sure you always use your best judgment and never ever ever get to close to the edge. These cliffs are 700 feet above the sea and unfortunately people die here every year. Never step off the trail and avoid any areas that are very muddy or roped off.

experience the cliffs by boat!

Something I didn’t know until arriving at the Cliffs of Moher is that you can experience them by boat! Thats right - adventure out to see and look at the raging cliffs from below. There are lots of different companies too choose from - here are some from a quick Google! If we ever get to come back with warm whether - you better believe I’m hopping on a boat!

If you can plan it right, come to the Cliffs between April and July! If you do then head over to the South Platform where you will be greeted by thousands of Puffins!! These cuties make their way to Ireland once a year and make mini homes around the west side of the island. I can only imagine what a special experience it would be :)
