Salt Water Vibes

Hanalei Pier

meet me at the pier

Can we just take a second to admire?! And my pictures hardly do it justice. Hanalei Pier Beach Park is so beautiful and here for many to enjoy! From adventure seekers jumping from the bridge, families picnicking on the pier, or paddlers and snorkels across the water, their is something for all beach goers.

I know I already talked about the waters in Kauai being like unreal but they really were!! Like almost as dreamy as I imagine Bora Bora :P haha. The Pier had beautiful water that was super clear! Tons of people were out Stand Up Paddling and snorkeling and floating! It is great water.

Not to mention the views on this beach are some of the best!! It is located on the North Shore just right next to Hanalei Town. The mountains are the start of the range that makes up the Na Pali coast which is unreal.

We explored underneath the pier just a little haha. It was a little creepy, especially when the sun would hide behind the clouds. But we did swim through it once because yolo. We were greeted by a school of about one thousand micro fishy!! It was really insane, SO MANY. But it was really cool and I always recommend brining goggles to the beach because their is an entire world underneath. The water it is soooo amazing. You will gain so much appreciation for the ocean.

I LOVE obnoxious google pics because I look like the biggest dork EVER in my googles but they are my favorite accessory :) I got us these U.S Diver Gear Googles from Target and they are the bees knees!! Sooo clear, they fit great: and adjust super easy, and come in tons of cute colors!! I would recommend getting some anti-fog spray because they can fog up a bit if your a heavy breather.

We decided to take a few leaps off the Pier and it was so fun I am glad we did! For starters it can't be more than a few feet high so the jump is not scary at all! Second the water below is probably about 10 feet so unless your really tall you don't have to worry about hitting the bottom! Rashawn is 6 ft tall and he was still far from the bottom!

There is a lader you can use to get back up, others climb up the sides (I was way to short!), and you can also swim to the shore! I will note that their are signs saying don't jump and don't climb on Pier, but as long as you make sure the coast is clear you should be fine but be warned that it is technically illegal. A great rule of thumb for us here in Hawaii is that if their aren't locals doing it: you shouldn't either.

Even if you don't jump in you should still defiantly get in! The water is so clear and its just beautiful sand. You can imagine our surprise when we ran into a school of fish! It was sooo cool though there were so many and they were just like the school in Finding Nemo!! They all stayed together no matter what. It was way cool.

Hanalei Pier had to be one of my favorites on Kauai! The pace is set for a perfect relaxing beach day with some of the most amazing views you could ask for.

how to get here

See this map in the original post

Driving through Hanalei Town their will be a road on your right hand side (facing West) that will take you along the water instead of town. Here is where you will find the pier. You can Google Map it to hear but look for the boats and head that direction!

warning

Always be aware of currents and tide at any beach and becuase their is marine life here be cautious and respectful of your surroundings. Also use your best judgements on jumping from the Pier. If others aren't doing it you probably shouldn't.
