Hamama Falls

Chasing Hawaiian Waterfalls

What is more refreshing than standing underneath a Hawaiian Waterfall? It's hard to think of many things better! If you are on Oahu and looking for a moderate adventure, than hiking to Hanama and Wahie'e falls is a perfect activity for you!

The trail is technically off limits, but the popularity of the trail says otherwise! Park in a legal space in the neighbordooh near by, always be respectful becuase people do live here!! Lock your car and make sure all valuables are out of sight.

Getting to the trail is almost effortless - simply walk around the silver gate on the left hand side! Don't bother trying to jump over!

You'll then start on a dirt path which remains this way the entire trial. Near the beginning at the fork, stay right on the path! It is so stunning with the Ko'olaus in the background but the hike is pretty warm! There is some shade but wear sunscreen and bring lots of water.

About one mile in you will come to a super fun swimming hole! This is a super popular spot for loacls to hang out and jump around at! The water here is fairly deep, maybe about 8 feet. The water is super cold though, you've been warned!

Rashawn even took his go jumping in. I got in from the side to avoid the total shock of cold water :) Always be aware that Hawaii's water may contain Leptospirosis, which is a bacteria found in some water here.

While the trail may be a bit tough due to the incline, there are lots of fun things along the way to make up for it! The Water Board owns this area so it is neat to see the various structures with overgrown plants around them. Makes you feel like you're walking through a magical old jungle town! Please do not go near or touch any structures.

There is also so many amazing plants and trees along the way. Take your turn swinging from the Banyan tree branches if your a real thrill seeaker :)

After aorund 2 miles up the hill you will be rewarded with Hamama falls! It is soooo magical to see it coming around the corner because it is massive! Waterfalls are so beautiful to me and it is just amazing how they are constantly flowing.

This trail also leads to Wahie'e Falls which is a bit father up the path! We were on a time restaint this day so tag me in your pictures if you make it to both :) Don't forget to cool off in the falls as a reward!
