Christmas In Tennessee

Christmas In The South

This Christmas my family broke tradition of spending Christmas in Colorado and we went to Tennessee! Ever sense I was born, minus maybe two years, we have hosted the family Christmas at my house. With my Omi and Opi getting older, and hating airport security, we decided to give them a year off and fly to them!

It was such a heart warming Christmas because it was just six of us. Usually we have 8 or more so it was really nice to lay low, play cards, and enjoy each others company. My Omi borrowed this adorable tree, which is alive and planted in the pot! It was perfect for our little southern holiday. Our family tradition is to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve really, we have a very nice dinner and do all of our gifts that night. It comes from our German side of the family and is something I will keep going in my future family too!

Family is such an important part of life and I am so so so blessed with mine. They all mean the world to me and give the best advise, hugs, and of course make me laugh the most! It gets lonely in Hawaii sometimes because I am so far away I only get to see my family once or twice a year so I really cherish the moments I have with them.

My wonderful Omi set the dinning room up for us and prepared a very delicious Christmas meal! It is a tradition in our family to order special caught Alaskan King Crab legs for Christmas Eve dinner every year. This year, because we would be in Tennessee it wasn't going to work out. But that's ok it will make it that much more special in the future!

The food was so delicious and sharing it with your family makes it even better!

Another family tradition we have is going and looking at lights. Every year our newspaper releases the best houses of the year and all of the address. From there my dad routes a map, makes THE BEST homemade hot chocolate, prepares the holiday playlist, and grabs moms cookies for the road! We go and check out all the best houses and it is my favorite tradition we have! So we had to do it while we were in Clarksville as well. It was not as impressive as home, but still a very fun time and beautiful homes!
