Caring: 5 Things you Can Do to Save The Ocean Today
Last week we scratched the surface on some issues in our oceans. But what does it all mean for you? Why should you do 5 things, let alone any things to help save our oceans? Well let me tell ya - their is a whole lot of reasons to care, and they all effect you.
The ocean is the largest eco-system on our planet. Without it nothing could continue to be the way it is. Like we talked about in Climate Change, the ocean absorbs so much of our heat we would overheat without it. So what happens in 2050 when our oceans collapse? When there is no more fish and only plastic? When the tide is too low for humpback whales? What will we do then? We need the oceans and the oceans need us.
why should we care?
Many things depend on the ocean and what lives in it. We use it for transportation, food, fun, education, tourism, and overall life. We need all of these industries to boom for a successful life for everyone! If we all cared a little bit more about where our trash and plastic went think how much better the overall world would be. Imagine if you had to keep everything you ever has - every piece of trash, packaging, bag etc. It would be impossible to keep. We need to be the change.
If we all refused plastic, illegal fish, harmful chemicals and packaging, then there would be no reason for it here on earth! Look at the plastic straw trend, more and more companies, resturants, even countries and states are banning plastic straws. With so many other healthier options in the market, soon there will be no reason for plastic straws to be made. We can do this with virtually any plastic and deffiently in all single use plastic.
The more we spread awareness and the more we learn, the more we will truly care and want to help. The oceans are magical places that we still have so much to learn about! We need to be the voice they don't have and help others make change in their lives. Caring for somthing adds so much meaning to your life and can make you feel as though you have a purpose. Wether it is saving the elephants or saving the sea, care for somthing.
In part three of this series I will dive into the 5 ways to help today in lots of detail + a free printout! The first post, Knowing, we brought up the issues in a light in a way that will make YOU want to help too. So I invite you to take a look at your life. Are you using single use plastic items? Do you waste things? Do you really know where your trash and recycles are going? Have you eaten fish from an illegal fish trade? There are so many ways we can look at our own life and weigh the consequences of our actions. What are some things you want to change?
Join Saving Blue next Friday for Part 3, Change: 5 Things You Can Do To Save The Ocean Today, to discover why we truly must care about the alarming issues in our waters.
